Emergency over the phone advice for GPs can be obtained by calling prior to your patient’s attendance and asking to speak to our Eye 9929 8033  or ENT 9929 8032 Admitting Officer or Eye or ENT Consultant on duty.

We are open 24/7 for eye and ENT emergencies. We would advise that non urgent issues like ear wax be dealt with locally.

At the Eye and Ear we welcome referrals from optometrists to our Emergency Department for urgent eye conditions. Please call us on 9929 8033 prior to your patient’s attendance and ask to speak to our Eye Admitting Officer or Eye Consultant on duty. This will help improve your patient’s experience at our hospital.

We may suggest an alternative time for your patient to attend that will minimise their waiting time, or facilitate an urgent referral to an outpatient clinic as needed. In the midst of our pandemic, please reassure your patients that we are taking the utmost care to ensure their safety. Measures include a QR check in process and the use of appropriate PPE.

We aim to minimise waiting times wherever possible. We ask that only the patient enters the hospital, however an exception will be made if an essential carer is required.  This helps reduce the number of people in our waiting and consultation rooms and supports better physical distancing.
