Aim of the Graduate EN Program

The Enrolled Nurse Transition to Practice Program is available to recently registered Enrolled Nurses. The program is designed to consolidate knowledge, skills and competence, and transition new graduates to practice as safe, confident and accountable clinicians.

Overview of the Program

  • 12-month program
  • 1 week orientation at the beginning of the program
  • Graduates will complete two rotations of six months in two of the following clinical areas: Specialist Clinics, Emergency Department, the Inpatient Ward, and Surgical Admissions & Recovery.
  • 4 study days throughout the year
  • Commencement in late Jan/ early Feb 2027- exact date TBC
  • 64 hours a fortnight or 4 shifts per week

Application Process

Applications open Monday 7 September 2027 and close Sunday 4 October 2026

We invite applications from nursing students who will have successfully completed their studies and obtained AHPRA registration as an Enrolled Nurse by the end of January 2027.

All applications for the Graduate Enrolled Nurse Program must be submitted via the current advertisement on the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital Careers website.

Please include the following documents in your online application:

  • Up-to-date resume/CV (include minimum 2 referees)
  • Most recent academic transcript (certification not necessary)
  • Clinical appraisals/ANSAT for your last 2 placements (acute placements preferred)
  • Cover letter, addressed to Sonja Lavery, Graduate Nurse Coordinator. Please specify why would like to complete your Graduate year with The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and what clinical areas you would be interested in.
