Aim of the Graduate EN Program
The Enrolled Nurse Transition to Practice Program is available to recently registered Enrolled Nurses. The program is designed to consolidate knowledge, skills and competence, and transition new graduates to practice as safe, confident and accountable clinicians.
Overview of the Program
12-month program
1 week orientation at the beginning of the program
Graduates will complete two rotations of six months in two of the following clinical areas: Specialist Clinics, Emergency Department, the Inpatient Ward, and Surgical Admissions & Recovery.
4 study days throughout the year
Commencement in late Jan/ early Feb 2027- exact date TBC
64 hours a fortnight or 4 shifts per week
Clinical Support
When you start your employment at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, you will attend a 4-day comprehensive orientation program. This includes an introduction to ophthalmic and ear, nose, throat (ENT) nursing. Periop graduates will attend 5 days orientation.
In each clinical area you will be supernumerary for a specific period based on both your needs and those of the clinical area.
Each clinical area has a Clinical Nurse Educator and a Clinical Support Nurse who will support your learning and transition to working independently. There is also a dedicated Graduate Nurse Coordinator who will support you in your transition into the workforce. The Eye and Ear provide a preceptorship model, where experienced Registered Nurses offer additional support, on a shift-to-shift basis.

We invite applications from nursing students who will have successfully completed their studies and obtained AHPRA registration as an Enrolled Nurse by the end of January 2027.
