On Tuesday, 10 December, we held two significant events: the 2024 Annual General Meeting (AGM) and the 2024 Trevers which incorporate our staff Excellence and Service Awards. You can view our 2023-24 Annual Report here.

These events were a remarkable celebration of our achievements and a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team. We extend our congratulations to all the award recipients and nominees.

A special thank you to our keynote speaker, Associate Professor Anne Brooks AM, for her inspiring speech and for being an integral part of our event.

We are proud to announce the Excellence Award winners for 2024:

Board Chair’s Medal – Professor Robyn Guymer AM

Professor Guymer is a Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist. Professor Guymer has been a part of the Eye and Ear for over 30 years and her contributions to ophthalmology and her dedication to patient care are truly remarkable. Her career is distinguished by groundbreaking research in macular degeneration, which has significantly advanced patient care and treatment. As Victoria’s first female medical retina specialist, she has mentored many fellows, published over 300 peer-reviewed papers.

CEO Teams Award – Pharmacy Team

Our Pharmacy Team do phenomenal work in keeping our patients safe every day. The team works across the hospital and in 2024 expanded their service to ED which has been incredibly valuable for patients. They also relocated and opened a state-of-the-art aseptic suite which aseptically compounds and impressive 3000 products that are not commercially available in Australia.

Aubrey Bowen Medal – Professor Lyndell Lim

Professor Lim is a Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist who has made remarkable contributions to the Eye and Ear, her colleagues and our patients. For the past 10 years she has been Head of Unit for the Ocular Immunology Clinic which has flourished under her care. Lyndell ensures an excellent culture within her team. She is a fierce advocate for her unit, as well as a driver for change. Improving clinic productivity, workflow and continuity of patient care under her tenure.

Nursing Excellence Award – Madeleine

Madeleine is an Associate Nurse Unit Manager. Madeline began her nursing career with us as a graduate and quickly demonstrated her potential through her exceptional leadership skills. She has since taken on additional responsibilities as an ANUM, working tirelessly to ensure the Acute Ophthalmology Service runs smoothly and efficiently. Madeline does all of this with a smile on her face every day, constantly seeking ways to assist patients, carers and colleagues.

Allied Health Excellence Award – Emma

Emma is our Disability Liaison Officer and Social Worker. Emma’s exceptional dedication to patient care and her unwavering commitment to enhancing the experience for individuals with disabilities is a true credit to this hospital.  Her role is pivotal in bridging the gap between patients, their families, and the complex web of hospital services. Her tireless efforts ensure that patients receive the support they need, seamlessly integrating them into our hospital’s care continuum.

Administration Excellence Award – Josephine

Jo is our manger of Health Information Services. integral to the digital health transformation we are undergoing. She frequently goes above and beyond to provide staff with the information they need to facilitate their work. Jo is generous in her assistance and in sharing her knowledge. Excellent patient care underpins and motivates all her actions.

At the event, we also recognised over 160 staff members who have served at the hospital for 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, and 45 years.
