To ensure that members of research teams have the qualifications and skills required for their role on the research project, the Eye and Ear offers Honorary Researcher Appointments for staff of external organisations and a credentialing procedure for Eye and Ear staff.
The Procedures have been reviewed and updated and will be effective from May 2024.
Eye and Ear Employees – Research related credentialing
Eye and Ear employees undertaking research activities not included in their current scope of practice should contact the Research Office for credentialing and adding a research scope of practice.
External researchers (including research partners)
Please review the information below and then submit an Honorary Researcher Application Form to the Research Office via email ethics@eyeandear.org.au
There are a number of mandatory training requirements for dealing with patients and/or accessing medical records at the hospital. All appointments are subject to a satisfactory:
- National Police Record Check
- Working with children check
- Health check
You may also need to provide supporting documentation based on the scope of practice you require. These include:
- Good Clinical Practice training
- English Language proficiency
- Health Records Act training
- Hand hygiene training
To be eligible for an honorary researcher appointment at the hospital, you must be an approved researcher on a current research project. These details are to be provided as part of the application form. The application must also be signed off by an Eye and Ear Head of Department, who will be responsible for the honorary researcher during the period of the appointment.
If access to the hospital’s ICT services are required, this will be arranged by the Research Office once the honorary researcher appointment is finalised.
