Eye and Ear is providing a Service or Recruitment only

For recruitment all the following must apply:

  1. The involvement of the Eye and Ear extends only to providing project information to patients / staff
  2. Research participants will not become Eye and Ear patients solely for the purposes of the project
  3. The project does not require approval from the Eye and Ear Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC)
  4. The research project must have ethical approval from a registered NHMRC Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) and the Eye and Ear must be listed as a recruitment site in the application.

An example of this type of project:

Participants in a clinical trial at another site(s) require a specific eye test; the Eye and Ear provides the test as a service/subcontractor but Eye and Ear is not a research site for the purposes of the clinical trial.

How to apply to the Eye and Ear Research Office for research governance review

Applications are submitted via email to the Research Office.

What documents need to be submitted?

Below is a list of the documents required for submission. Minimum standards apply to all applications:

  • Applications must be complete; incomplete applications will be returned to the researcher
  • Handwritten applications will not be accepted
  • Principal Investigators must sign all correspondence
  • All documents must have a version number and date

Submission Dates

An application for recruitment only or service provision can be submitted to the Research Office at any time.

Submit your application along with any supporting documentation by email to the Research Office.

How is my application reviewed?

The application will be reviewed by the Research Manager, Heads of Units/Clinics involved and the Executive Director Medical Services.

You will receive a response within 10 business days. A research governance authorisation letter will be provided where the Eye and Ear is a research site.
