The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and the Centre for Eye Research Australia recently came together for the 5th Annual Joint Research Staff Forum, hosted by CERA.
The annual forum provides an important opportunity for staff and researchers to hear the latest updates, connect across teams and explore opportunities for future collaboration in eye and ear health research.
This year’s program featured presentations from Associate Professor Elaine Chong and Professor Lyndell Lim, who shared insights into emerging areas of research and clinical practice.
Associate Professor Chong presented One right eye on education and one left eye on the future of surgery, exploring the intersection of education, innovation and the future of surgical practice.
Professor Lim presented What do you mean, my arm tattoo has caused me to go blind? The increasing numbers of tattoo associated uveitis and its public health implications, highlighting an increasingly recognised condition and its broader public health implications.
The forum also created an opportunity for staff to reconnect with colleagues, discuss shared research interests and consider new ways to work together. Some attendees also had the opportunity to tour CERA’s laboratories and gain a closer look at current research activity.
